You might be wondering why capture a first look? This photo op sets the pace of a wedding day and offers a built in backup plan for portraits! Here are a few favorite reasons behind choosing to see each other before the ceremony:

1. It offers more portrait time and the chance to use photography locations surrounding your venue. Plus, it’s another photo op in case the weather changes post-ceremony!

2. This may be the only truly private moment you spend together. Guests and extended family members have yet to arrive, making it easier to focus on each other. It also offers the opportunity to share vows privately if you decide not to speak them publicly.

3. It means you can enjoy cocktails with guests if you choose (talk about the best happy hour of your life!) We’ll schedule bridal party and family photography directly following a first look so you have extra time to spend with them all at the party.

4. Still dreaming of an aisle moment? You’ll get that, too, and feel all the more relaxed and confident for it 🙂 Couples tell us this time allowed them to sincerely express feelings without the pressure of onlooking guests. As someone who personally opted for a first look, I love how it offered additional portrait backdrops + opportunities for the feeling of the day sink in! This is why the team and I love to capture a first look.

Your wedding is just that, yours. Whether you choose to hold a first look or not, there is no right or wrong way. What matters most is that you are happy and comfortable with the plan to capture the first time you see each other.
